Who we are

CF Electrical Services Ltd. ("CF Electrical", "we") provides Electrical Planning Reports, EV Ready Plans and electrification project management to strata corporations in British Columbia. This policy explains what personal information we collect through cfelectrical.ca and in the course of our services, how we use it and how to reach us about it. We follow British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).

What we collect

  • •Proposal requests and contact forms: your name, role, email address, phone number, the strata plan number and building address, and anything you write in the message.
  • •Project onboarding: the information the onboarding survey asks for (council and property manager contacts, a site contact, the strata's electricity account details) and the documents you upload, such as strata plans, electricity bills, drawings and past reports.
  • •Resident and feedback surveys: the answers you give, and your name and unit number when the survey asks for them.
  • •Online tools (the EPR checker and the rebate estimator): the details you enter so the tool can show its result, and an email address if you choose to send the result to yourself.
  • •Video assessments: the video call is recorded and transcribed so the technician can prepare the report; you are told this on the call page before you join.
  • •Website use: analytics and advertising-measurement data collected by Google tags (Google Analytics 4 and Google Ads conversion tracking) and by the Meta pixel (Facebook and Instagram ads), such as pages viewed, approximate location, device type and whether you arrived from one of our ads. When you send a form, we also pass a copy of that event to Google and to Meta's Conversions API from our server so the ad platforms can count it; what Meta receives is described under "Advertising measurement" below. Our chat helper keeps the messages you send it so it can answer.

How we use it

  • •To prepare and send a proposal, run the project, write and deliver the report, invoice the strata and answer your questions.
  • •With the strata's written authorization, to request the building's electricity data from BC Hydro or FortisBC and to submit EV Ready Plan rebate applications on the strata's behalf.
  • •To send project emails about work you have asked for. Newsletters go only to people who have asked for them or with whom we have an existing business relationship, and every one has an unsubscribe link.
  • •To understand how the website is used and which pages bring in requests, so we can improve it.

Who we share it with

We do not sell personal information. We share it only as needed to do the work: with the utility (BC Hydro or FortisBC) when the strata authorizes a data request or a rebate application; with the people the strata names on a project, such as its property manager and site contact; with our bookkeeper for invoicing and accounting; and with the service providers that run our systems, which currently include Cloudflare (website hosting, forms and video calls), Google (email, document storage, analytics and advertising measurement), Meta (advertising measurement, as described below), Resend (sending the site's emails), Netlify (report websites) and Intuit QuickBooks (invoicing and payments). Each provider may store data outside Canada. We may also disclose information when the law requires it.

How long we keep it

A proposal request (the form or the call) is kept in our email and in our project records whether or not the strata goes ahead, so we can answer a later question about it; if you would rather we removed it, write to us and we will, unless we need it to complete work already agreed. Project records, including the report, the documents you provided and the invoices, are kept for as long as the strata may need them and for the periods Canadian tax and business-record rules require. Website analytics and advertising data is kept according to Google's and Meta's retention settings (Meta's website audiences cover at most 180 days). Tool entries and chat messages are kept only as long as needed to run the tool or answer the question.

Advertising measurement

We advertise on Google Search and on Facebook and Instagram. To know which ads bring in proposal requests, the site carries a Google tag and a Meta pixel. Each records the pages you view and, if you send a form, a "lead" event. For Meta, our server also sends the same lead event once more through Meta's Conversions API, with the email address, phone number and name you typed converted into a one-way hash before they leave our server, together with your IP address, browser type and the Meta click and browser identifiers from the pixel's cookies. Meta uses this to match the lead to the ad you saw and to build audiences of people who visited cfelectrical.ca; we use those audiences to show follow-up ads on Facebook and Instagram for up to 90 days after a visit. We do not upload customer lists to either platform.

You can opt out of Meta's use of this data in your Facebook or Instagram ad settings ("Your activity off Meta technologies"), and of Google's in your Google account's ad settings. Blocking cookies, or using a browser or extension that blocks tracking, stops the tags on this site; the forms and tools still work.

Cookies

The site sets cookies for analytics and advertising measurement: Google's _ga and _gcl cookies and Meta's _fbp and _fbc cookies. Our own forms keep a small record in your browser's local storage of how you first reached the site (the page, the referring site and any campaign tags in the address), which is attached to a form you send so we know which channel brought the request. Nothing in it identifies you until you send a form. You can block or clear cookies and site data in your browser settings; the site still works without them.

Your choices and rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete a proposal request, or withdraw your consent to further use, subject to the records we must keep to complete a contract or meet a legal requirement. Write to [email protected] or call 778-910-4772; we answer within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you may contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.

Changes

We update this policy when our practices change and show the date of the latest version at the top. Questions go to [email protected].
